What is chemical biology

Chemical biology can be defined as a scientific discipline at the very interface of chemistry and biology. This young discipline involves the application of chemical intuition, techniques, and often non-natural molecules produced through synthesis, to the study and manipulation of biological phenomena and pathways. While biochemistry traditionally involves the study of the chemistry of natural biomolecules and biochemical pathways, chemical biology emphasizes the direct application of chemical thinking and tools for understanding biology.
